The Vast Differences in Modern Assisted Living Communities Compared to Years Past

Assisted Living in Citronelle AL

In the past, assisted living communities were often closely associated with nursing homes. However, assisted living today is not even remotely close to what it was in the years past. There are manyAssisted Living in Citronelle AL differences and we will list just a few of them here.

Difference #1: More responsive staff. In the past, some assisted living communities, as well as nursing homes, were understaffed and had far too many residents who required assistance. It’s important to realize there is a significant difference between assisted living and nursing home care, and today’s modern communities often have plenty of staff to be as responsive as possible to each resident.

Difference #2: Today’s facilities often have high quality restaurants with a full-time chef. In the past it might’ve been a cafeteria with mass-produced meals and few options. Today, many assisted living facilities have an actual restaurant in the facility with a high-quality chef. This provides a better atmosphere and allows people to feel like they are more involved in a community.

Difference #3: Today’s assisted living facilities often have exercise facilities. A workout or exercise room is commonplace in many communities today. That’s because the benefits of exercise for seniors has become readily apparent. Most medical professionals recommend seniors get at least 15 minutes of cardiovascular exercise every single day. It’s the same for younger adults as well, but many people often underestimate just how valuable exercise can be. Assisted living facilities don’t make those mistakes any longer.

Difference #4: Comfort and quality are vastly improved. Stepping into the lobby of an assisted living facility can feel like stepping into a high scale apartment community. That’s because these facilities have invested a significant amount of money in improving their appearance as well is their appeal to elderly individuals.

People need to feel comfortable where they live, and today it is one of the best senior care options anyone can choose. Take the time to visit an assisted living community, especially if you or someone you know may be having difficulty living independently at home.
